British Sports Minister Oliver Dowden said on Monday that he feared Liverpool and Manchester United's plan to restructure the Premier League's "Premier League" football "Premier League" is an attempt to "seize power."
The British minister told Sky News, in response to a question about his opinion of the proposals as a good plan or a seizure of power, "I fear it is the second option and I am skeptical about that," according to Reuters.
The two clubs support a plan that includes radical changes in the Premier League structure, most notably reducing the number of Premier League teams from 20 to 18 teams in the 2022-2023 season, and canceling the Professional League Cup and the Community Shield match.
The Premier League said some of the proposals "could have a detrimental effect on the whole game" and expressed disappointment at the public support the English Premier League chief, Rick Barry, had given her.
The reform plan drawn up by the American owners of the Liverpool team, Fenway Sport, with the support of the Glazer family in Florida, which owns the Manchester United team, was in 2017 and is seen as a radical change in football management, and has been accelerated due to the outbreak of the Covid epidemic - 19, and because of the financial situation facing many of the English Premier League clubs.
