Today, the Moroccan women's race at the women's World Cup held in Australia and New Zealand this summer seems to have another luster. Last week, the Atlantic Ladies made history as the first Arab team to qualify for the round of sixteen.

A day before the start of the expected match, the statements of the coaches of the Moroccan and French teams received remarkable media attention, especially since both coaches have French citizenship and have close ties with the kingdom.

During a press conference on Monday 07/08, the coach of the French national team, Herve Renard, confirmed that football comes as a priority for him, praising the level of the rival national team, which he has been closely watching for a long time, as he put it.

"I have many friends and wonderful memories in Morocco . And now, we're talking about football. "Even when it's a friendly match, you have to win it.

Renard was the coach of the Atlas Lions between 2016 and 2019 and had an honorable record with the team, including 25 wins, 10 draws and 10 defeats in three years.

For his part, Reynald Pedro, the coach of the Atlas Lionesses, said: "it's a special match because I'm French and the staff is also French. But my heart is Moroccan".

The former coach of the Olympique Lyonnais club pointed out Monday to the hard work he has done for three years to reach this achievement, noting in his speech to reporters that he will not feel any regrets or hesitation to win over France in today's match.
