In doing so, Hannah Dingley became the first woman to coach a men's professional leagues team in the history of England".

The team's first match under the new manager will be against Melksham Town, where it is expected that she will continue to take charge of the team even before the start of the new season.

"I am excited about this next step of my career, we have started the preparatory season, the whole season will start very soon, it is an exciting period in football, I am grateful for this opportunity to lead such a progressive club and think about the future," Hannah Dingley told her official club website.

While club president Dale Vince said: "Hannah is the natural choice for us to be the interim head coach of the team, she has done a great job leading our academy and aligns well with the values of the club".

"Dingley joined English club Forest Green Rovers for the first time in 2019 to take charge of the Academy, becoming the first woman to run an Academy in a men's competition, and in 2021 Dingley also launched the club's Girls Academy.

Hannah Dingley has a UEFA PRO coaching certificate and previously worked at Burton Albion, before joining Forest Green four years ago.
