As part of a long-term plan to revolutionize international football, the president of the international football federation "FIFA", Gianni Infantino, wants to hold the World Cup once every 3 years

According to a special report published by the British Daily Mail, Infantino is convinced that the holding of the winter World Cup has proved to be a game changer, and this shows that the sport can continue to grow.

Despite concerns about player fatigue and mass injuries at the Qatar World Cup, the football tournament generated record revenues of 6.2 billion pounds, an increase of 840 million pounds over the 2018 Russia World Cup.

It seems that Infantino's long-term ambition is to establish a new tournament cycle, which includes the holding of the World Cup every 3 years, with the holding of the Club World Cup and other continental competitions, such as the European Championship, in other years when the World Cup will not be organized.

According to the scheme, any change can be made only after the 2030 World Cup, especially since the talks between the continental football federations on the organization of various football tournaments in the period from 2024 to 2030 are nearing completion, although discussions on this topic have begun behind the scenes.

Infantino gave himself time to implement his revolutionary scheme, as he made it clear last week that he intends to serve 3 full terms as FIFA president, which will keep him in office until 2031, according to the Daily Mail.

It seems that 52-year-old Infantino will face a big battle to get approval to hold a new tournament every three years with the football associations, despite the support for this idea from the Asian and African football federations, but it may face opposition from UEFA and the South American confederation "CONMEBOL", who opposed Arsene Wenger's proposal to organize the World Cup every two years.
