On Thursday, Ahli Egyptian Club announced on its official website the signing of Portuguese coach Ricardo Suarez for two years and the remainder of the games in the current season.

Suarez (47), the head coach of the fifth Portuguese League club Gil Vicente last season, arrived in Cairo on Wednesday and completed all contracting procedures, holding a lengthy session with club president Mahmoud Al-Khatib.

In statements on the club's official Facebook page, Suarez revealed that he received offers from many clubs, but he preferred Al Ahly after finding that the club's management "has a good project in order to win all tournaments and trophies, so I welcomed the Ahlawi show."

"Al Ahly is a big club rich in local, continental and global tournaments and achievements, so working in it will be a great new challenge for me."

Suárez will train the community on a contract that extends to 2023 and a penalty clause of Euro 250 thousand.

Al-Ahli Egypt ended its contract with Musimani by mutual consent on 13 this month, after leading the team for 20 months to win the 2020 and 2021 African Champions League titles, losing the 2022 edition to Wadad Al-Oval Morocco. He also won the Club World Cup 2020 and 2021, two Super Cup titles, and the 2019 Egypt Cup.
