The English Premier League has decided today to postpone the Brighton showdown with its guest, Tottenham, scheduled for next Sunday afternoon, in the round of 16

competition, because of the high number of Corona infections on the Tottenham team.

The Premier League said in an official statement that Tottenham had requested a rescheduling of the match at a later date following the discovery of "an unspecified number" of cases of the Corona virus among players and staff at the London club, and the governing body of the English Premier League had taken a decision to postpone the match after guidance from medical advisers, giving priority to the health of the players and crew.

The outbreak of the Corona virus led to the closure of training facilities after consultation with the Premier League Association and the United Kingdom Health Security Agency.
