The Taliban held its first press conference, under the eyes of the world, to talk about the new era and plans for the future in Afghanistan.

The Taliban spokesman, Khalibullah Mujahid, from the Afghan capital Kabul, spoke about the objectives of the new government, after the movement took full control of the country.

Mujahid said in front of millions: "Congratulations to the Afghan people and I wish them a bright future. Freedom and independence are the legitimate rights of all countries."

He stressed that "after achieving independence, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan will not settle accounts with any parties in Afghanistan," noting that Afghanistan will not be used to harm others, and pledging not to use Afghan territory against others.

Mujahid said: "For us, we do not want to fight any war in Afghanistan, and according to the Taliban leader, we made the decision to pardon others, forgive everyone."

He singled out citizens who had worked with the United States Government, such as translators and others, and pointed out that all of them were pardoned by the Taliban.

He said: "Forgive the thousands of soldiers who fought us 20 years."

"We declare today the completion and end of our hostility to all those who have confronted us in Afghanistan, and we must say that we are currently going through a historic period."

Mujahid noted at the press conference: "What we want is for the media and the nations of the world to be assured that we are holding important consultations for the composition of a political mechanism for the establishment of an Islamic regime in Afghanistan."

"Embassies and diplomatic missions are secure, we continue to secure them, and we assure representatives of diplomatic missions that they will not be harmed."

Mujahid said that the Taliban did not want chaos in Kabul in the coming days, and that the movement had asked its militants to remain at the entry points of Kabul, until the peaceful transfer of power took place.

Mujahid confirmed: "The previous government failed us, and the institutions were vacated without telling us, they fled and left their jobs and missions, which allowed troublemakers and bandits to create chaos."

Mujahid also noted that there would be "an active presence of Afghan women, and we assure the world that women's rights are preserved in accordance with Islamic law," noting that women will be allowed to work in the country.

The new Government would serve the interests of the people and would not allow anyone to provoke ethnic slurs.

The Taliban spokesman called on the international community to "help," through investment and material support, so that the country could obtain additional income to end the drug trade and cultivation.

He also stressed that the world's media can work in the light of our cultural framework.
