China has raised its medal count to 47, of which 22 are gold, 13 silver and 12 bronze, so China continues to harvest gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, while the United States has reduced the difference from 5 to 3, but the latter leads the total.
The United States approached China in terms of gold, but received more total medals.
The total American medals at the Tokyo Olympics were 52, of which 19 were gold, 20 silver and 13 bronze.
Japan placed third with a total of 30 medals, 17 gold, 5 silver and 8 bronze, outnumbering Australia with 13 gold, with 3 silver and 14 bronze.
The United States scored gold in the men's 100 metre medley relay at the Tokyo Olympics with a world record of 3 minutes and 26.78 seconds on Sunday.
Britain received the silver medal, while the bronze medal went to Italy.
China's Jung Li Jiao also scored gold in athletics after her personal best score of 20.58 metres, today's Sunday.
American Raven Saunders received the silver medal, while veteran New Zealand Valerie Adams received the bronze medal.
Australia scored gold in the women's 100 metre medley relay, the United States took the silver medal, while the bronze medal went to Canada.
