In a record - breaking jump over Olympic competitions, Japanese capital authorities hosting the Olympics said the number of new corona injuries in the city was 4058 today.

The new record increase, which exceeded the threshold of 4000 cases for the first time, comes a day after Japan decided to extend the Tokyo emergency until the end of August and expand it to three districts near Tokyo and western Osaka province due to the recent increase in infections.

The organizers of the Tokyo Olympics said Saturday, amidst mounting concerns, that they had withdrawn credentials from people associated with the Games because of the departure of the sightseeing village of the athletes, in violation of imposed procedures to ensure that competitions are held safely in the midst of the pandemic.

The organizers have not yet disclosed the number of persons whose cards were withdrawn, whether they were players or when the violations occurred.

In a daily statement, Tokyo 2020 spokesperson Masa Takaya said: "We have withdrawn the accreditation card because we believe that getting out of the sightseeing sportsmanship village should not happen."

This measure is the first of its kind since the Olympic Games began on July 23. Without the accreditation card, one cannot enter any Olympic facility.
