Spain's Villarreal beat England's Manchester United by 11-10 kicks to crown the EuroBasket title for the first time in its history.

The Spanish Villarreal crowned the UEFA Europa League title after a marathon match with Manchester United, which ended in a 1-1 tie in the original and extra time, to clinch the result.

Gerard Moreno (29) scored for Villarreal, and Uruguay's Edinson Cavani (55) for Manchester United. The final was held in the Polish city of Dansk in front of 9,500 spectators.

Geronimo Rowley, the keeper of Villarreal, scored the decisive kick, and saved his counterpart David De Khea's kick, crowning his team as champions of the European Football League for the first time in its history.

Villarreal survived in the second leg to give his coach Unai Emery his fourth title in the tournament, while United have been absent since winning the Europa League in 2017.

Gérard Moreno shook De Khea's net after a free-kick from Danny Björk to advance Villarreal in the 29th minute, but United realized the equaliser with Radinson Cavani, who took advantage of his teammate Marcus Rashford's goal, which changed direction in the 55th minute.

The tie continued in overtime and after all the players scored their kicks Rowley shook De Khea's net before saving the Spanish keeper's shot.
