Despite being a violent game, Egyptian champion Samar Hamza skipped all the odds she met and managed to harvest a silver medal in the World Wrestling Ranking tournament.

She almost won the gold medal, but for her loss to Canadian rivals at the tournament hosted by the Italian city of Rome.

Samar Hamza played the final to Canadian Eriki Weibe, who took the gold medal, also the gold runner-up of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, and the last World Championship runner-up of 76 kg, to limit the Egyptian champion to a silver medal.

Samar Hamza said that this win was very important to her, because during her next Olympics she would be placed at the head of a group without having to go into drawing lots.

She added that "exercise as strong as wrestling does not have negative effects on personal life, but rather made me self-reliant, stronger and healthier, and developed in many respects."

On the role of parents, Summer stressed that her family had been an important factor in her success through her constant encouragement and support, and called on young people not to leave their dreams, to uphold them, to believe them and to strive to achieve them.

The Egyptian expedition performed well at the tournament, with Abdel Latif reeling in second place and a silver medal in the 130 kg competition, after losing to Turkish player Reza Kiaylib.

The wrestling team is preparing to participate in the African Championship qualifying tournament for the Tokyo Olympics, scheduled for April.
