And Apple phone generations, like most devices, tend to offer gradual improvements most of the time, and this is one of the reasons for the slowdown in sales around the world.

Over the past few weeks, we have seen pressure being exerted on the phone from both the European Union and China.

If you continue to read the speculations and" leaks", you will see that the iPhone 15 models are likely to be slightly lighter than their predecessors, with an improved chip, a longer-lasting battery, a better camera, and a titanium chassis.

People keep their devices longer, not only because they are financially and environmentally expensive, but also because there is no longer the same urgent justification for updating and buying a new phone.

Ben Wood, a smartphone expert at CCS Insight, says: "Apple probably realizes that it has reached a point where there are a huge number of iPhones, and maintaining this number of devices is a great achievement.

He agrees that while we probably won't see a radically different iPhone at Apple's annual September event in the United States this evening, what we will see, according to Wood, is the theater of a wealthy company that is well versed in the requirements of the fan audience.

However, there is one tangible development that you have not seen before, and if you are in Europe, you will definitely notice it. The iPhone 15 will most likely have a USB Type C "USB-C" charging cable port.

Currently, the iPhone relies on the Lightning cable "Lightning", which is the port for Apple and its technical devices, while most other devices, including devices made by Apple, tend to use a USB Type C charger.

Therefore, for example, if you have an iPhone and a Kindle device, your iPhone charger will not fit into the Kindle port and vice versa.

Apple has always insisted that product diversification always leads to more innovation. It has also offered wireless charging as an alternative for several years, but all phones since the iPhone 8 have been similar in the way they charge.

However, the EU has run out of patience, and announced that all mobile devices must be compatible with a universal charger by December 2024. The rest of the consumer technology sector will also not switch to the use of "lightning", even if Apple allows it.

But you may find justification if you decide to add this cable to your cable drawer, instead of throwing it away, and Ben Wood says that there is a thriving market for used iPhones, especially in Africa.

"IPhones are getting into the hands of people who couldn't afford them before, and it's locking them into Apple's ecosystem,"he added.

The European Union is not the only region that makes laws, it was reported that China banned the introduction of iPhones into state-run buildings last week for security reasons.

This is not related to the phone itself, as much as more to the ongoing technological conflict between China and the United States, but it caused the Apple stock price to shake.

The majority of people in China use Android devices, but the iPhone is the best-selling phone in the luxury phone category (and I mean expensive sales in dollars).

The situation is additionally embarrassing for Apple because it still manufactures its products in China. She has been trying to move away, the iPhone 14 is now being assembled in India, for example, but Apple still needs companies and factories located in China.

Apple needs to continue its relationship with China. But how much does the rest of the world need -or want-the new iPhone We'll find out soon.
