The Russian space agency "Roscosmos" on the words of its head, on Monday, revealed the cause of the leak in the Soyuz spacecraft connected to the International Space Station.

The head of the Russian space agency, Yuri Borisov, said that a hole with a diameter of less than one millimeter was the cause of the leakage of coolant from the Russian spacecraft.

Last week, a routine exit of two Russian cosmonauts from the spacecraft was canceled after the US space and aviation agency (NASA) noticed a large amount of liquid flowing from it. Temperatures on the capsule have since risen and "Roscosmos" rushed to look for the cause to determine how to solve the problem.

"The preliminary examination showed that it was a small hole with a diameter of about 0.8 millimeters that caused the drop in atmospheric pressure,"Yuri Borisov, the head of Roscosmos, told Russian state television.

Reuters quoted the Russian official as saying that the crew members are not in danger, and they are currently staying at the International Space Station.

"Roscosmos was planning to inspect the capsule with a 17-meter robotic arm known as the Canada 2 arm, which is used to carry out maintenance, transport supplies, and connect vehicles to the space station.

The temperatures on board the capsule are "soyuzm," Borisov said. S-22 " stabilized below thirty degrees Celsius, and the capsule is in working condition. But he described the situation as "not very good," adding that a committee would decide before the end of the month on the steps to be taken.

Roscosmos has plans at an advanced stage for the possible deployment of a backup spacecraft to return astronauts to Earth in the event of a malfunction with soyuzm. S - 22 is connected to the station. Borisov said that the backup spacecraft will be ready for launch by February 19.
