The awarding committee said that "the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded to Narges Mohammadi

for her struggle against the oppression of women in Iran

And her struggle to promote human rights and freedom for all, " the committee also

expressed its hope that Iran will release the activist

"If the Iranian authorities want to make the right decision, they will release her and then she

can come to receive this honor," she said،

Which is what we hope ".

Berit Reiss Andersen, head of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, said the prize rewarded the

 51-year-old activist and journalist for

"Her fight against the oppression of women in Iran and her struggle to promote human

 rights and freedom for all".

Human rights activist Narges Mohammadi has spent most of the last years in prison, where

she has not seen her two children for eight years،

She had said in an exclusive interview that Agence France-Presse was able to conduct with

her by correspondence from behind bars within a month

Last September, she said that she no longer has "hope of freedom soon" and that the

change in Iran is "irreversible", and stressed her confidence in the future of the popular

 movement in Iran

In 2022, Belarusian human rights activist ales bialiatski and the Russian organization

 "Memorial" were awarded the prize

And the Ukrainian Center for civil liberties, as they have" together proved the importance of

civil society for peace and democracy".

For its part, the Mohammadi family expressed its pride and the symbolism of this moment,

which it considered a " historical moment in the struggle for freedom in Iran"

"This Nobel Prize will encourage Nargis' struggle for human rights, but most importantly

It is, in fact, a prize for women, for life and for (the) freedom movement,"he said.
