At a time when Israeli Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu is in the process of forming his government, which, according to the agreement signed so far, includes figures from the far right of the Israeli political map, will occupy, including sensitive security positions, directly reflected on the conflict with the Palestinians

In recent days, Israel has stepped up its operations in the occupied West Bank, resulting in a number of deaths, the latest of which was the young Ammar Hamdi Mufleh (23 years), whom the Palestinian presidency accused Israel of killing "in cold blood" in the town of Hawara south of Nablus.

In a brief statement by the UN envoy for the Middle East, Tor Winsland, posted on his Twitter account, he said," :

"Horrified by the killing of Palestinian Ammar Mufleh during an altercation with an Israeli soldier near Hawara in the West Bank".

He added: "My heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family. Such incidents must be fully and promptly investigated, and those responsible held accountable,"he said.

The EU delegation to the Palestinian territories also expressed "serious concern about the escalating level of violence in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem," in a tweet posted on Twitter.

"In the last 72 hours alone, 10 Palestinians have been killed by the internal security forces in what appears to be an excessive use of lethal force,"she added.

"2022 is the bloodiest year since 2006, with 140 Palestinians killed,"the EU said.

He stressed that according to international law "the use of lethal force is strictly limited to situations where there is a serious and imminent threat to life and limb".

A documentary video taken from the scene showed an Israeli soldier firing live bullets at a young Palestinian man, Ammar Hamdi Mufleh (23 years old), in the center of the Nablus district of Huwara from scratch, after a fistfight between them, where the young man was later declared dead, and the Palestinian presidency accused Israel of killing him "in cold blood".

The EU called for the need to "investigate civilian casualties and ensure accountability".

Hours earlier, the French Foreign Ministry called on Israel to stop the increasing violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, stressing the need for those responsible to be held accountable for their actions by the competent authorities.

Observers fear that these operations will be a de facto translation of the directives of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Ghafir, who has not yet assumed his post, but has already pledged to ease the procedures for firing on Palestinians.
