The Israeli Knesset has ratified three laws providing for the inclusion of military forces in police operations, whether for the service of the Prison Service or for combating community violence.
One such law allows Palestinian society to be targeted at the Palestinian interior. It opens the way for the Israeli police to break into and search their homes without obtaining a court order under the pretext of fighting crime and violence there.
Observers said that the law was aimed at subjugating Arab communities, where the police were allowed to break into their homes, stressing that it posed a serious risk to Arab citizens inside Israel.
With a view to strengthening the police force and the prison service, the Government had initiated these projects. The Minister of Internal Security, Omar Parlev, said that he wished to combat all kinds of violence against Israel, whether in Arab society, in Jewish towns or in prisons, or violence against extremist settlers assaulting Palestinians in the West Bank and the security forces sent to guard them. According to the Middle East.
The Joint List criticized these laws, and Deputy Ayman Awad, Chairman of the List, said that these laws bring back to the Arab memory the notorious days of military rule.
The Arab community is witnessing a major outbreak of acts of violence and crime that have claimed 95 lives since the beginning of this year, 2021.
Israeli Palestinians of the interior accuse the Israeli police of failing to combat crime amid an unprecedented spread of arms.
For his part, Jamal Zahalka, president of the National Democratic Rally Party, has declared his refusal to introduce the army and "shabak" to Arab towns and villages in Israel.
According to the Palestinian media, Israel was trying to exploit the increase in crime in Arab society for security gain.
He considered that there was a huge difference between the fight against crime and violence and its investment to facilitate intelligence penetration and the legitimacy of the army, adding: "Yes to fight crime, not to exploit the Zionism of Arab society at home."
He explained that some Arab deputies had voted on the law as part of Israel's current governmental debate. The vote had been one of the biggest mistakes and had been on the pretext of fighting violence and crime in Arab society.
He continued: "The Joint Arab List has opposed this law and has spoken of its gravity. It has criticized the position of the Consolidated List. Mansour Abbas is committed to the survival of a Government that has shown that it will eventually be able to achieve an achievement that will enable it to win the Arab street and all attempts at adventures that are not guaranteed results."
