On a visit to the Sudan, the Minister of the Interior of the Sudan met with the delegation of the International Criminal Court to discuss cooperation and coordination between the Sudan and the International Court in various areas.
The meeting discussed ways to give effect to the memorandum of understanding between the Court, the Ministry of the Interior and the country's judicial agencies.
The meeting of the Minister of the Interior with the delegation of the International Criminal Court was in the presence of Lieutenant General Khaled
Mahdy Ibrahim, Director-General of the Police Force.
It is recalled that the delegation of the International Criminal Court is losing a number of judicial institutions in the country.
Earlier, the Sudanese Government signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Criminal Court in the case of Ali Abdul Rahman, known as "Ali Kushayb," accused in cases relating to events in Darfur from 2003 to 2010, where he faces more than 50 counts before the International Criminal Court, relating to crimes against humanity, genocide and rape in the Darfur region.
The International Criminal Court is reportedly prosecuting 51 Sudanese defendants for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide in the Darfur region, primarily ousted President Omar al-Bashir, under arrest warrants issued in 2009-2010, along with former Defence Minister Abdel Rahim Mohamed Hussein and his deputy in the party, Mohammad Harun.
It should be noted that the Peace Agreement provided for the appearance before the International Criminal Court of accused persons under arrest orders, and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is considered to implement this constitutional obligation.
