Acting Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, Axel Biscup, urged donors to make quick and flexible contributions to the Sudan Humanitarian Response Plan 2021.

This came in a statement issued yesterday, Thursday, following a field visit to West Darfur State, where he met on February 17 and 18 with the refugees in January.

The Humanitarian Coordinator also met the community leaders, such as the Governor of West Darfur and relief organisations.

Biscup heard from them their urgent requests for the needs they lack to it in the field.

Biscope said that donor support "will allow the continuation of humanitarian operations and provide an urgent response to those affected by crises."

He added "Returning the refugees to their homes or returning to the camps for them will be a tremendous challenge because the refugees do not feel safe, stressing on the need to provide security, repair the damaged shelter, restore basic services and find solutions to enable a return to normal life."
