Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, called on humanity to exercise caution and eliminate any seeds of Nazi thought, so that it does not slide again into a world war.

Nebenzia noted that Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan submit annually to the United Nations General Assembly a draft resolution on "combating the glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to the escalation of modern forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia, and related intolerance." He expressed his thanks to "the international community for supporting this initiative by the overwhelming majority."
