Kyrgyz President Surunbay Genbekov has made several phone calls to his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, since the beginning of the crisis that followed the parliamentary elections in his country on October 4.
A statement issued by the press office of the Kyrgyz presidency said: "Since the early days of the crisis that broke out in the country, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Surunbay Genbekov, held several telephone talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin."
The press office added that Kyrgyzstan and Russia are partners in many international organizations, especially the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Eurasian Economic Union, the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The office indicated that "the Russian side expressed its concern and offered its assistance to solve the crisis from the moment it arose."
On September 28, Putin and Jinbekov met in Sochi, where they discussed cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
