The bloody events in Gaza continue to cast a shadow all over the world, and in response to

the exceptional circumstances witnessed in Gaza and aimed at uniting efforts and coming

up with a unified collective position, the Joint Arab – Islamic summit was launched today in

the Saudi capital Riyadh, in which the leaders of the countries called for a ceasefire and war

on Gaza before the scale of violence expands in the region.

The summit also called for an end to the war in Gaza and refused to justify Israeli actions

against the Palestinians as self-defense,"the statement said.

The emergency meetings of the Arab League and the organization of Islamic Cooperation

come in light of the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, and the

violent bombing campaign and the Israeli barbaric attack since that date have killed more

than 11,078 people, including more than 4,506 children, according to the latest toll

announced by the Ministry of health of the Hamas government on Friday.

The Arab League and the organization of Islamic Cooperation were supposed to hold two

separate summits, but the Saudi Foreign Ministry announced early Saturday that an

"extraordinary joint Arab-Islamic summit" would be held exceptionally today.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its account on the X platform that the

decision to merge the two summits came "out of a sense from the leaders of all countries of

the importance of uniting efforts and coming up with a unified collective position that

expresses the common Arab-Islamic Will regarding the dangerous and unprecedented

developments in Gaza and the Palestinian territories that require unity of the Arab and

Islamic ranks in confronting them and containing their repercussions".

The Arab League aims to show " how the Arabs can act on the international arena to stop

the aggression, support Palestine and its people, condemn the Israeli occupation and hold it

accountable for its crimes," said the league's Assistant Secretary-General Hossam Zaki on

 Thursday.

The summit condemns "the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the war crimes and the

barbaric, brutal and inhumane massacres committed by the colonial occupation

 government,"the statement said.

The statement also called for breaking the blockade on Gaza, allowing Arab, Islamic and

international humanitarian aid convoys to enter the Strip, and halting arms and ammunition

 exports to Israel.

The leaders of the Arab and Islamic countries demanded a" comprehensive solution "that

would guarantee the unity of Gaza and the West Bank as"territory for a Palestinian state".

The joint final statement stated that the summit "rejects any proposals that enshrine the

separation of Gaza from the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and affirms that any

future approach to Gaza must be in the context of working on a comprehensive solution

that guarantees the unity of Gaza and the West Bank as the territory of the Palestinian

state, which must be embodied free, independent, sovereign and with East Jerusalem as its

capital on the lines of the Fourth of June 1967".
