During his meeting with Cindy McCain, executive director of the World Food Program in

 Cairo, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi stressed on Saturday the need to revive the

 political track of the Palestinian issue based on the decision of the two-state solution and

the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, in accordance with the approved

international references.

"Sisi stressed Egypt's grave concern over the continued deterioration of the humanitarian

 situation in the Gaza Strip," according to a statement issued by advisor Ahmed Fahmy,

spokesman for the Egyptian presidency.

The Egyptian President reviewed the intensive efforts being carried out by Egypt around the

 clock to ensure the introduction of as much assistance as possible, to meet the real needs of

 the people of the Strip, with the continuation of Egyptian efforts with various regional and

 international parties to push for an immediate ceasefire.

For her part, the WFP executive director thanked Egypt for its pivotal leadership role in

 providing support to the people of the sector, whether through direct support or through

 coordinating assistance provided by international parties, including the World Food

 Programme and other relevant UN organizations.
