In a speech by the chairman of the African Union Commission during his participation in the peace summit held in Cairo on Saturday, with a heavy international presence, to discuss ways to end the ongoing battles between Palestinian factions and the Israeli army since October 7, Moussa Fakih, chairman of the African Union Commission, called for the formation of an "open global front" to stop the violence in the Gaza Strip and the whole world, demanding to stop just denouncing and entering the action phase.

Moussa also offered the Union's readiness to do what is necessary in coordination with states and international organizations to put an end to the ongoing conflict between Palestinians and Israelis.

In the words of a jurist :

- The circumstance in which the vicious war on Gaza is taking place calls for refraining from talking and engaging in action; in order to arrange the appropriate response, there is no room for anything else.

- From the very first moment, we demanded an immediate cessation of violence and the provision of humanitarian food and medicine.

- We call for the release of civilian hostages, especially women and children, and we applaud the efforts of the state of Qatar in this regard (referring to its mediation in the release of two American hostages held by Hamas), and we hope that it will be successful for the further release of hostages.

- We call for the formation of an open global front to stop the resort to all forms of violence, especially against civilians.

- Based on the established principles and the relevant international and African resolutions, we stress that the current war is a serious international crisis, and it is necessary to come out of it urgently with an effective decision on the realization of the principle of two states, Israeli and Palestinian, Independent, secure and peaceful within the framework of good-neighborliness, and we believe that any direction other than that will not establish peace.

- The African Union is fully prepared to add its humble efforts to all of your efforts to make the required International LEAP.

The "peace summit" was held at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, after the violence in the Gaza Strip reached an unprecedented level, amid Israeli calls to displace the residents of the Strip to Egypt, which Cairo considered an attempt to liquidate the entire Palestinian issue.

According to senior diplomatic sources, "the differences between the Arab Group and the representatives of the West participating in the summit are the reason for blocking the issuance of the statement after they wanted it to include only the condemnation of Hamas, and refused to condemn Israel for the killing of thousands of civilians in Gaza, or to demand an urgent cease-fire and the entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged strip.

Musa Faki Mohammed, after the airstrike on the Baptist Hospital in Gaza, said that there are no words to fully express the Union's condemnation of this bombing, which killed hundreds of people who took the hospital as a safe haven.

When the fighting broke out on October 7, with sudden attacks launched by Hamas on Israeli settlements in what it called the "Al-Aqsa flood" operation, and then the immediate response from Israel to it with the "iron swords" operation, the African Union issued a statement urging the Palestinians and Israelis to return to peace negotiations without preconditions.

"I would like to recall that the denial of the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people, in particular the right to an independent and sovereign state, is the main cause of the permanent Israeli-Palestinian tension,"he said in a statement at the time.
