On Wednesday, the US president adopted Israel's version, which blamed the Islamic Jihad Movement for the bombing of the hospital in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, stressing that Hamas brought only "suffering" to the Palestinian people.
"I was deeply saddened and very angry by the bombing that took place at the hospital in Gaza yesterday," Biden said during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv on Tuesday, adding that "based on what I saw, it seems that this was done by the second party.
Meanwhile, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi warned Wednesday that the" displacement " of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Egypt could lead to the same thing happening to Palestinians from the West Bank to Jordan.
During a press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Schulz in Cairo, Sisi said,"the idea of displacing Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Egypt means that a similar thing will happen, which is the displacement of Palestinians from the West Bank to Jordan, and therefore the idea of a Palestinian state that we are talking about is not feasible.
While thousands of people came out in several Arab capitals on Tuesday night to demonstrate in several Arab countries to protest the killing of more than 500 people, including children, in the targeting of the Baptist Hospital, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in a statement at dawn on Wednesday that "Hamas attacks on Israel cannot justify collective punishment of Palestinians," calling for an "immediate humanitarian ceasefire" in the ongoing war between Israel and Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip.
Israel said that the cause of the explosion at the hospital was a failed attempt to launch a rocket by the Islamic Jihad Movement, which denied responsibility, while Palestinian officials said that an Israeli airstrike hit the hospital and Palestinian Health Minister May al-Kila accused Israel of committing a "massacre".
Protests were also held at the Israeli embassies in Turkey and Jordan and near the US embassy in Lebanon, where security forces fired tear gas to disperse demonstrators.
