Russia refused to confirm that information reported by Washington about a close summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un to discuss arms sales from Pyongyang to Moscow in its war against Ukraine, but talked about the possibility of joint military exercises.

"No, we can't confirm that," Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in response to a question about whether Kim would meet Putin soon. "We have nothing to say on this issue,"he added.

On the other hand, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced Monday that the two countries are discussing the possibility of organizing joint military exercises.

"We are discussing this with everyone, including North Korea," the minister said, as quoted by TASS news agency. Why not They are our neighbors".

The White House announced on Monday that Kim Jong-Un intends to travel to Russia to discuss arms sales with Putin.

He also condemned Shoigu's visit to North Korea at the end of July, where he attended a military parade alongside Kim Jong-Un "in an attempt to persuade Pyongyang to sell artillery ammunition to Russia".

"As we have already publicly warned, the arms negotiations between Russia and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are progressing apace,"said US National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson.

"We have information that Kim Jong-Un expects these talks to continue to include a diplomatic dialogue in Russia at the level of leaders,"she told media.
