"As far as Prigogine is concerned, he is in St. Petersburg, not in Belarus,"Lukashenko told journalists working for foreign media during a press conference. He explained that the Wagner fighters are "in their barracks" and not in Belarus "until the moment".

"In the event that (the Russian government and the Wagner group) consider it necessary to deploy a number of Wagner fighters in Belarus to rest and train," he added... I will then carry out my decision" to receive them. "I don't think Wagner will rebel against Belarus,"Lukashenko stressed.

The "Wagner" mutiny on June 24 shook Russian power in the midst of the conflict in Ukraine. For hours, fighters from the "Wagner" occupied the general headquarters of the Russian army in Rostov in southwestern Russia and advanced hundreds of kilometers towards Moscow.

The Rebellion ended on the evening of June 24 with an agreement providing for Prigogine's transfer to Belarus, but the whereabouts of the latter remained unknown. He has not made any public statements since June 26.

Prigogine stressed that his rebellion was not aimed at overthrowing the regime in Russia, but to save the "Wagner" group from dismantling by the Russian Army Staff, which he accuses of incompetence in the Ukrainian conflict.
