Witnesses spoke of" sounds of gunfire and clashes in the surrounding area " of the Yarmouk complex, the most prominent military manufacturing facility in Sudan.
During October 2012, "Yarmouk" was subjected to aerial bombardment, which Khartoum accused Israel of standing behind, while Tel Aviv refused to officially comment on the accusations.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Rapid Support Forces announced a " new victory by taking full control of the Yarmouk complex and ammunition depots," noting that the army soldiers fled, leaving behind "quantities of military equipment and vehicles".
She posted on her Twitter account a video that she said was "from inside the compound," showing her elements celebrating inside a warehouse where machine guns, mortars and huge amounts of ammunition are stacked.
On Wednesday - Thursday night, witnesses reported a huge bang and a fire broke out as a result of the explosion of one of the oil storage tanks at the al-Shajara oil and gas facility near the Yarmouk complex.
The direct cause of the fire has not been determined, but witnesses confirmed that the perimeter of the facility has been witnessing battles for more than 48 hours, noting that smoke clouds are still rising from it, and they are visible even 10 kilometers from the site.
The parties to the fighting have not fulfilled repeated promises of a ceasefire that would allow civilians to leave the fighting areas or provide safe corridors for the introduction of relief aid.
The latest Saudi - US-brokered de-escalation agreement collapsed on the sidelines of talks hosted in Jeddah last week, while Riyadh and Washington announced the suspension of talks, but urged the parties to return to the negotiating table.
