people's Alliance Party, is considered the main opponent of the current President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan (the candidate of the public Alliance) and the candidate from the ATA alliance, Sinan Ogan, is also participating in the elections.

The second round of the presidential election will be held on May 28, if none of the candidates won more than 50% of the vote during the first round.

The number of eligible voters is 64 million, 113 thousand, 941 voters, according to the Supreme Election Commission.

The elections come after almost 21 years of the "Justice and Development" Party ruling the country, and the rise of a new young generation seeking change, amid a suffocating economic crisis and a steep cost of living.

Along with Erdogan and Kilicdaroglu, the candidate of the "ATA alliance", Sinan Ogan, is competing for the presidency of the country, while the candidate Muharram Ince withdrew due to allegations of being blackmailed and defamed.

Opinion polls indicate that the strong competition will be between Erdogan and Kilicdaroglu, amid expectations that the elections will move to a second round to be held on May 28.

In the parliamentary elections, there were 5 coalitions, namely "the public","the people", "Labor and freedom", and the ATA "grandparents" alliance, while the "country" Party headed by Muharrem Ince, the presidential candidate who decided to withdraw from the presidential race, did not join any alliance, and decided to contest the elections independently of the coalitions.
