South African Foreign Minister, Naledi Pandor, confirmed that Putin is invited to attend an economic summit to be hosted by her country this summer, according to the British "Sky News" network, on Friday.
She explained that Putin is the head of state in the "BRICS" group, which includes, in addition to Russia and South Africa, India, China, and Brazil.
She added that he would be invited to participate in the 15th summit of the group in Durban next August.
Pandor said that the cabinet will discuss how to respond to the memorandum of the International Criminal Court, as a signatory to the Rome Charter on wisdom, noting that the response will be issued soon.
It is not clear whether Putin will accept the lawsuit.
South Africa is the second country, after Hungary, that has confirmed that it will not arrest Putin if he enters the country, as it contradicts the country's law.
These successive international positions represent opposition to the memorandum issued by the International Criminal Court against Putin, last Friday, on charges of committing war crimes in Ukraine, namely the deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia, which Moscow denies.
