The Russian ambassador to the UN Vasily Nebenzya,
said i an interview that Russia will urge the relevant UN structures to investigate the Nord Stream sabotage, Russian Special Representative the UN Vasily Nebenzya said in an interview with Rossiya 1 TV channel.
"We want and, of course, will work to ensure that an investigation into this subject is carried out, if it is not already being carried out at the national level, because what is going on there is, of course, not an investigation, but an imitation of one, as we have stated. We will urge the relevant UN structures to handle this," the diplomat said.
He also noted that the UN has the capacity to create mechanisms to investigate incidents like the Nord Stream sabotage. "The UN has established numerous channels for conducting specific inquiries. As you are aware, processes are put in place when appropriate, whether in Syria or elsewhere," he was responding to statements regarding the UN's lack of specific committees to investigate the explosions at the Nord Stream gas pipelines.
Earlier on Friday, Russia put forward a draft UN Security Council resolution about an inquiry into last year’s sabotage of its Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines.
