The Office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced in a statement that the European Union and Ukraine will hold a summit in Kiev on February 3 to discuss financial and military support.
According to the statement, Zelensky discussed the details of this high-level meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in his first phone call this year.
"The parties discussed the expected results of the upcoming Ukrainian-European summit scheduled for February 3 in Kiev and agreed to intensify preparatory work,"the statement added.
Both Zelensky and der Leyen spoke about the supply of "appropriate" weapons and a new 18 billion euro financial aid program for Ukraine.
The European Union has imposed several packages of unprecedented sanctions on the Russian economy since Moscow began its all-out offensive into Ukraine in February.
