The Russian ambassador to America, Anatoly Antonov, said that the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Washington showed that the US administration and Zelensky are not "ready for peace".

"The Hollywood visit to Washington by the head of the Ukrainian regime confirmed that the conciliatory statements of the US administration about the lack of desire for a confrontation with Russia are nothing but empty words,"Antonov said.

The Russian ambassador continued in a statement published by the embassy: "what was announced earlier through applause and sarcastic smiles, is the need to continue the proxy war on our country, until a complete victory is achieved over us".

Antonov noted that the United States was supplying Patriot missiles to Ukraine despite Russia's warnings and said Kiev did not have experts to use these systems.

"I think everyone perfectly understands the fate of the people who will operate these systems on Ukrainian territory,"the ambassador added.

"Provocative practices on the part of America are leading to escalation, the consequences of which are unimaginable," Antonov concluded by saying.

It is noteworthy that Zelensky began a visit to Washington, which is his first foreign visit since the start of the Russian invasion of his country.
