"friendly conversation" with his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan, adding that the Saudi minister assured him of Riyadh's readiness to continue dialogue with Tehran.

"I had the opportunity to have friendly talks with my counterparts on the sidelines of the second Baghdad conference... "My Saudi counterpart assured me of his country's readiness to continue dialogue with Iran,"he said.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry has not yet responded to a request for comment. Amir Abdollahian said he also spoke with the foreign ministers of Oman, Qatar, Iraq and Kuwait.

The conference was attended by French President Emmanuel Macron, Iraqi-Sudanese Prime Minister and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, EU foreign policy official Josep Borrell, who coordinates the Vienna negotiations on the Iranian nuclear file, and EU coordinator of these talks Enrique Mora.
