In a move to end the war raging between the two countries since February 24 , the Kremlin rejected the peace plan presented by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky
"These are three steps towards the continuation of hostilities,"Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"Ukraine must accept the new realities on the ground in order for peace to be achieved,"he added.
On Monday, Zelensky called for a peace summit to be held during the winter to bring peace to discuss his country's plan.
The plan consists of 10 points, but there are 3 points that are of great importance: Russia completely withdraws its troops from Ukraine, Kiev does not make any concessions and guarantees Ukraine's security and territorial integrity.
The plan also addresses seemingly less important matters such as food security and prisoner exchanges.
Zelensky paved the way for the plan when he stated a few days ago that if Russian President Vladimir Putin agrees to negotiate, the West should consider providing security guarantees to Russia.
And last September, referendums were held in 4 Ukrainian regions, the participants of which approved joining Russia, which was rejected by Kiev and behind it by European countries.
But last November, Ukrainian troops regained control of Kherson, one of the four regions where the referendums were held, and yet Moscow asserts the "Russianness of the land" there.
On the subject of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, the spokesman for the Russian presidency said: "We are still in contact with the IAEA about the nuclear power plant".
"There are no heavy weapons at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant.
