On the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri held discussions with his American counterpart Anthony Blinken on the developments of the Ethiopian "Renaissance Dam" crisis.

This came during the meeting of the two ministers in New York according to a statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The statement published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its official Facebook page said that the meeting dealt with various aspects of bilateral relations and regional and international developments of mutual interest

The ministers exchanged views on "a number of regional issues, most notably the situation in Libya, Syria, the Palestinian question and Yemen, as well as developments related to the Renaissance Dam."

The Ministers also discussed current preparations for the twenty-seventh session of the United Nations Climate Change Conference.

They also discussed ways to mitigate the negative effects of Ukraine's crisis on food security.
