While receiving Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Sunday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi stressed the importance of overcoming the language of dialogue and diplomatic solutions to the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.

Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's support for all efforts to resolve the crisis politically in order to maintain international security and stability through its international contacts and movements with all actors both in the bilateral and multilateral framework.

The official spokesman of the Egyptian presidency, Bassam Radi, stated that Lavrov conveyed to President El-Sisi a letter from Russian President Vladimir Putin on the topics of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and expressed the importance that Russia attaches to the consolidation of bilateral relations with Egypt within the framework of the partnership and strategic cooperation agreement between the two countries.

The letter also expressed appreciation for Egypt's initiative to establish a ministerial liaison committee within the framework of the League of Arab States in an effort to resolve the Ukrainian crisis and the visit to the Russian capital Moscow by the relevant Foreign Ministers.

On his part, President El-Sisi requested to convey his compliments to President Putin, as a value of the bilateral cooperation process of Russian projects in Egypt, primarily the establishment of the Dhaba nuclear power plant, the Russian industrial zone in the axis of the Suez Canal and other investment and economic projects between the two countries in all sectors.

He added that Lavrov briefed President El-Sisi on the latest developments on the Ukrainian crisis and the Russian moves in this context at the international level.

The spokesperson explained that the meeting also dealt with some bilateral topics that bring together Egypt and Russia in various fields, particularly cooperation in the field of grain and food supply sectors, as well as the petroleum and gas sector in the light of the current crisis in those sectors.
