Commenting on the formation of a regional air alliance involving Israel to confront Iran, the Iranian delegation's adviser in the negotiations to lift the embargo Mohammed
Marendi said he was "confident that there is no such issue that can leave no influence on Tehran and no country in the region is a competitor to Iran as its only competitor is America", according to Iran's Fars.
"Saudi Arabia and the Zionist entity are too weak to pose any threat against Iran, which is the most militarily advanced nation in West Asia."
"America is not at the level where it imposes its will on others and it has to make a smart decision to support the nuclear deal with Iran", Marendi said, noting Tehran's desire to reach an agreement with Washington, but stressing that the American side should give privileges because America cannot demand everything it likes.
Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan said he was "not aware of any discussions about a regional defense alliance between the Gulf states and Israel," stressing that Saudi Arabia had not participated in such talks.
Ben Farhan said the issue had not been raised during a visit to Biden, adding that Riyadh's decision to open airspace was not a prelude to diplomatic relations with Israel or other actions on it, noting that his country was "committed to reaching a positive understanding with Iran."
On his part, Adel al-Jubeir, Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, said in an interview with CNN that there had been no change in Saudi Arabia's position, and that normalization with Israel would be possible only after the implementation of the two-state solution.
