In response to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg's remarks last Saturday, in which he said that "NATO's new strategic concept will remind China, whose rise is a
challenge to NATO's interests, values and security."
On Thursday, China announced that NATO should stop spreading misinformation and make provocative statements about China.
In response, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told a briefing on Thursday: "We insist that NATO must stop drawing ideological lines, stirring up confrontation, as well as spreading misinformation and provocative statements against China, and stop trying to start a new cold war."
According to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wenbin, "NATO is a tool through which America maintains its dominance and manipulates the European security landscape."
"NATO has already wreaked havoc in Europe, adding that there is no need to" wreak havoc "in the Asia-Pacific region either.
" Winbin added: NATO claims to be a defence organization, but has launched wars against sovereign states, killing a large number of civilians and displacing tens of millions."
Jens Stoltenberg said on Wednesday that "Russia will be formally included as a major threat to NATO in the Alliance's new strategic concept, which is expected to be adopted at the NATO summit in Madrid on 28 and 30 June.
NATO's strategic concept is the core document of the bloc, with Member States reaffirming the values and objectives of NATO, providing a collective assessment of the security environment, identifying security challenges and measures to address them, and outlining the future political and military development of NATO.
