Commenting on Iran's decision to suspend 27 cameras to monitor its nuclear activities, following the adoption by the IAEA Board of Governors of a resolution critical of its lack of

cooperation, the United States warned on Thursday that Tehran's recent "provocations" in the nuclear dossier could cause a "serious nuclear crisis and further economic and political isolation of Iran."

"We continue to urge Iran to choose the path of diplomacy and de-escalate," US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said in a statement.

He urged Iran to "cooperate with the IAEA and provide credible information", noting that nuclear negotiations "could succeed if Tehran abandons its demands outside the agreement."

Earlier, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of the United Nations announced that Iran had removed 27 surveillance cameras from its nuclear sites in the country, warning of a "heavy blow" to the nuclear agreement.

Rafael Grossi considered that the move posed a "serious challenge" to the IAEA's efforts, warning that there were "only 3 to 4 weeks left, before it became impossible to revive the agreement".

Asked what would happen if some of the equipment removed was not returned, within 3 or 4 weeks, he said: "I think this would be a devastating blow (to revive the agreement)."
