After the Council of the Russian Federation approved its request to deploy Russian soldiers abroad, after requesting troops to support pro - Russian separatists in Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the "best solution" to end the crisis over Ukraine was to abandon Kiev's desire to join NATO.
Putin said: "The best solution to this issue is that the ruling authorities in Kiev themselves refuse to join NATO and choose neutrality."
Putin pointed out that Ukraine must be "demilitarized."
Putin said: "Ukraine must disarm. Ukraine's talk about nuclear ambitions targets Russia and we got the message. "
Russian President Vladimir Putin asked the Federation Council to agree to send Russian soldiers to support pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine whose regions had recognized independence.
After a quick debate, the Council of the Federation unanimously approved the request by a vote of the 153rd members.
The Russian Deputy Minister of Defence, Nikolai Bankov, read Putin's request before an extraordinary meeting of the Council, saying that "at the border of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, an army (Ukraine) of 60,000 and heavy shields was deployed."
