In an address to the Sudanese people on the occasion of the sixty-sixth anniversary of the independence of the Sudan, the President of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Burhan, said, "We uphold the building of all institutions of transitional governance and the holding of free, fair and transparent elections on time."

The proof added: "The conflict over power, its isolation, the resulting loss of life, the destruction of property and the disruption of people's lives requires all of us to arbitrate the voice of reason."

He continued: "Compromise is the way to accept serious dialogue and is open to all. The only way to govern is through popular delegation through elections.

Earlier, Sudanese police announced that 4 demonstrators had been killed, 297 injured, 53 injured and police vehicles burned during Thursday's protests.

The Sudan witnessed demonstrations amidst tight Government action, cutting off roads and communications, and the demonstrators declared their destination as the Republican Palace, where they were able to reach it at demonstrations last week before security forces could disperse them.

The civil parties and the resistance committees that organized several mass protests demand full civilian rule under the slogan "No negotiation, no partnership, no legitimacy."
