The American Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Jeffrey Feltman, stated today that the United States understands the concerns of Egypt and the Sudan about blocking the Ethiopian renaissance.

"We are working to stabilize the Horn of Africa," Feltman added in his statement.

On the Nahda dam crisis, Feltman said that the war in Ethiopia had disrupted the Nahda dam negotiations and "we understand the water concerns of Egypt and the security concerns of the Sudan regarding the Nahda dam," stressing the need to reach a binding agreement on how to fill the Nahda dam.

Jeffrey Feltmann explained that the war in Ethiopia had disrupted the negotiations to block the renaissance, noting that Ethiopia should work with the rest of the parties at the negotiating table and not in the battlefields.
