United States Secretary of State Anthony Plinkin today called on China to cease "hostilities" in the Indian and Pacific Oceans.

Blinkin said: "The United States will promote alliances to ensure the freedom of the Indian and Pacific Oceans."

The spokesman for the China International Development Cooperation Agency, Chiwei Wei, said that China was ready to provide emergency humanitarian assistance to those affected by hurricanes in America in accordance with their needs.

According to one Chinese news agency, Wang Wen Bin, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said at a press conference that China offered condolences to American victims.

He added: "We hope that the injured will recover as soon as possible, and that the affected persons will be able to rebuild their homes early."
