Today, the United States confirmed that the upcoming talks between U.S. Presidents Joe Biden and Russian Vladimir Putin will address issues of common concern, most notably the Iranian nuclear issue and strategic stability.

Earlier today, the spokesperson for the Russian presidency, Dmitry Peskov, announced that President Putin and his American counterpart Biden would be talking about the crisis of dialogue between the two countries.

White House spokeswoman Jane Saki said during the daily press conference that the talks between Biden and Putin "will address matters of common interest such as Iran's nuclear dossier and strategic stability."

She also referred to the crisis in Ukraine, explaining "It's time for Russia to withdraw its troops from the border with Ukraine," adding "We have prepared economic sanctions that have a significant impact on Russia's economy if it invades Ukraine."

He quoted Peskov's remarks, who said, "Of course, it will be necessary to discuss how to implement the understandings reached in Geneva, move forward and see what is fully implemented and what requires additional efforts to strength en the bilateral relationship."

Peskov added: "The talks will be held on 7 December at around 6 a.m. Moscow time via video and will be a secure, online and not accessible to all, but the first footage of the event will be posted online to journalists."

Peskov continued: "Among the main topics are tensions around Ukraine, NATO's progress towards Russia's borders, and the Russian President's initiative on security assurances."

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with his American counterpart, Joe Biden, in June this year in the Swiss capital, Geneva, and held a summit, the first since the latter assumed the presidency.
