The Russian ambassador stated during an interview with British Radio Times, during which he said: "Yes, there is a risk of war due to miscalculation on our eastern border, which is the last thing we want and this kind of escalation must be prevented if it happens."
The Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Andrei Killen, revealed that the military escalation between Russia and the West on the eastern border is a possibility and must be prevented from developing.
Kellen added: "At the same time, the dangers are not as serious as the cold war. Russia has expressed to its Western partners concrete proposals on the military line, and how this can be achieved."
Killeen continued: "Negotiations must continue, we need to de-escalate. There are proposals on our part, but they must be analysed and an answer provided. Unfortunately, we received no response. "
The Russian Ambassador also stressed that his country was not planning a military invasion of Ukraine, which the Russian authorities had repeatedly confirmed, noting at the same time the high risk of a current war in Ukraine due to instability on the line of contact in Donbass.
In response to a question about a possible response from Russia if NATO forces moved towards Ukraine's border with Russia, Killeen said: "This is going to be another escalation. We need to be ready for that. In addition, we must understand the objective and its purpose. "
