Today, it was reported by senior Sudanese military sources that the Sudanese army responded to an attack inside the eastern borders by Ethiopian and Amhara militias, where heavy-weapons confrontations broke out between the two sides.

Sources added that the Sudanese army responded to the incursion of Ethiopian and Amhara militia forces into Sudanese territory east of the Noreen pond at the settlement of Malkawa, 17 kilometres deep.

She noted that clashes with heavy weapons were still taking place at noon today.

The sources explained that the new Ethiopian incursion was aimed at two things: Support to the major Amhara farmers working to harvest some 10 thousand acres planted within the Sudan.

The second objective is to block the advance of the Tigray Territory Liberation Front forces into the Ethiopian Dar Sea region.
