A day after its troops used tear gas and water hoses to deter migrants, Poland warned, today, that the migrant crisis on its eastern border with Belarus had continued for months or even years.
In the most recent escalation of the months-long confrontation on the eastern border of the European Union after yesterday's clashes, Polish Defense Minister Marius Plaščak said that further attempts to cross the border occurred during the night.
It is noted that thousands of migrants, mostly from the Middle East, are staying at the border in the hope of entering European Union States, and the West claims that it is a crisis orchestrated by Belarus to try to pressure the European Union and respond to sanctions. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko rejected the accusations and criticized the European Union for not receiving migrants.
For his part, Plaščak told Polish Radio Jedinka: Attempts to cross the border continued through the night, and the migrants used the same "method of attacking the Polish border" as happened on Tuesday at the Prozje-Kuznica crossing and "we need to prepare for the fact that the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border will not be resolved quickly. We have to prepare for months or even years. "
He continued: "Public attention focused on what happened in Kuznica, while smaller groups of migrants tried to break through the Polish border in other sections, also during the night."
