Today, Syrian Foreign Affairs condemned the Turkish Parliament's endorsement of the extension of the Turkish Forces in Syria and Iraq for two more years.

"The policies of Turkish regime President Recep Tayyip Erdogan constitute a direct threat to peace and security in the region and the world."

According to the statement, published by the Syrian news agency SANA, Damascus condemned "in the strongest terms the decision of the Turkish Parliament to renew for two years the so-called" mandate "of the President of the Turkish regime (Recep Tayyip Erdogan) to send military forces to Iraq and Syria."

Syrian Foreign Affairs considered that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's policies "have become a direct threat to peace and security in the region and the world where he continues to carry out military assaults on Syrian territory and to violate Security Council resolutions relevant to the situation in Syria."

On the basis of the Charter and international law, in defending its independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty and in taking all the practical and legal measures guaranteed by international legitimacy, in order to repel the Turkish aggression and liberate all Syrian territory, the Syrian Foreign Minister affirmed that Damascus "reserves its absolute right"

Damascus called on the international community to "hold this regime accountable for the war crimes and aggression committed against it," and to "compensate the Syrian State for all the losses caused by these practices against Syrian civilians, Syrian infrastructure, public and private property, natural resources and the historical heritage of the Syrian Arab Republic."
