Sameh Shakri, his Vietnamese counterpart, Pui Than Son, met to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Vietnam in various areas and to coordinate efforts between the two countries in multilateral forums.

This was on the sidelines of Thanksgiving's current visit to New York City to participate in the high-level segment of the seventy-sixth session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Ambassador Ahmed Hafez, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Minister Shoukry's visit would involve participation in a number of events with a view to presenting Egypt's vision and positions on current issues, the situation in the region and ways of supporting the pillars of international and regional peace and security, as well as discussing mechanisms for strengthening multilateral action within the framework of issues on the high-level agenda of the General Assembly.

On the margins of his participation, the Minister for Foreign Affairs would meet with a number of senior officials of the United Nations and other leaders of international and regional organizations, such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Union for the Mediterranean.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also indicated that during his visit to New York, the Minister for Foreign Affairs would also hold bilateral meetings with a large number of foreign ministers participating in the work of the General Assembly to discuss bilateral cooperation with those States, as well as consultations on the most prominent regional and international issues and ways of coordinating the common challenges. The meetings of the Minister for Foreign Affairs are also intended to present the achievements at the national level in various areas of political, economic, economic and social and social development.
