Khalibullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesman, said Islamic State attacks in Afghanistan should stop as American troops leave the country, or the new government will suppress the organization.

The Islamic State of Khorasan State, which has been carrying out bloody attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan for several years, adopted Thursday's attack on Kabul airport, where thousands of people are gathered in the hope of leaving the country after the Taliban took control on 15 August.

The attack killed more than 100, including 13 American military personnel, a few days before President Joe Biden expired on 31 August to withdraw the last American soldiers from the country after a twenty-year war.

The organization also adopted a missile attack on Kabul's airport on Monday.

"We hope that Afghans under the influence of the Islamic State will abandon their operations when they see the establishment of an Islamic government in the absence of any foreign Powers," Mujahid said.

The speaker, whose movement pledged to bring peace upon assuming power two decades after the overthrow of its regime, warned that "if they raise a state of war and continue their operations, the Islamic Government will take over."

It should be noted that the United States launched several airstrikes over the weekend against Islamic State targets, and Sunday destroyed a bomb mechanism aimed at "eliminating an imminent threat" to the airport.

In recent years, the Islamic State of Khorasan has carried out a series of bloody attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan and has not hesitated to target civilians with massacres in mosques, schools and hospitals.

The Taliban, seeking moderation and openness, pledged to form an "inclusive" government, but only after the withdrawal of American and foreign forces from the country. Negotiations are still under way to form the new executive branch.
